In March the sounds of brass will again be ringing through Orange!

Our first ever Brass Celebration in 2008 celebrated the centenary of the band rotunda in Cook Park. The event proved to be so popular that City of Orange Mayor John Davis encouraged the Band to make it an annual event.

On the weekend of 10th and 11th March the City of Orange Brass Band will be joined by three featured brass bands. They are the current NSW ‘A grade’ Champions, Willoughby Band, the current NSW ‘C grade’ Champions, Cardiff North Lakes Brass and the Parramatta Salvation Army Band.

Festivities will commence at noon on Saturday morning with a 1.1km street march by all bands along Summer Street, from Robertson Park to Cook Park.

Bands will play in Cook Park throughout Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.  Bring your family and enjoy the range of available hot and cold food and beverages or pack a picnic to make the most of the music and the fantastic park surroundings.

Orange Civic Theatre is the venue for the Saturday evening indoor concert.  Tickets are now available through Ticketek or at the theatre.  Value for money is assured as the City of Orange Brass Band and each of the visiting bands will present their own distinctive programs.  A stage-filling massed band performance is also eagerly anticipated.

A segment of hymns on Sunday morning in Cook Park will be led by Parramatta Salvation Army Band.  Salvation Army bands and composers have always been significant contributors to brass music and this segment acknowledges that link.
